To stay mentally and physically strong
How long have you been running? How did you get started? Why did you choose running over other activities?
3 Years I started because my hubby wanted me run the army run with him. We could run without kid interuptions
How do you motivate yourself to run regularly? What about on the days the weather is bad or your are feeling particularly lazy?
My motivation is usually an upcoming run. Lazy days are hard bad weather is a treadmill run
Do you use a running coach, or read any books to aid in your training?
I love John Stanton’s book and I am addicted to my run keeper app.
How do you fit running in with your daily schedule?
I try to run in the morning so its done and out of the way before life gets in the way
Do your friends and family support your running or think you are crazy?
Many say I’m crazy but I do surround myself with a lot of runners too
What is your favorite running terrain (road, trail, treadmill)?
I love running on the road never really liked trails but I love a good view. The treadmill saves me from the cold of winter
What is the hardest race you’ve run to date?
I guess around the bay in Hamilton because it’s the longest I’ve done (30km)
What is the most enjoyable race you’ve run to date?
Probably Around the Bay because I ran with my husband and my then 19year old son the day before I turned 45
Have you ever been injured due to running? What were the ramifications?
I do have a problem with hips and knees but my chiropractor keeps working on them and now I stick to 10 and 1 for really long runs
Do you use any music or run tracking devices when you run, or are you a naked runner.?
Love my ipod when I’m alone but run “naked” with my husband
How do you get yourself through the difficult parts of your runs? Do you have a personal mantra or do you just give up?
I usually start counting in my head it gets negative thoughts out of there in a hurry
A lot of runners know that “Who has the runs” has a double meaning. How do you deal with the occasional “problem” that plagues every runner at one time or another?
I haven’t really encountered any real problems other than the occasional “pee” in the woods. Pepto bismal would be my first choice if my belly was bugging me before a race
What advice would you give to someone thinking about taking up running?
Go for it. When you win mentally you feel like a million dollars not to mention the physical gains
What is your next big race?
Around the Bay end of march
What is your immediate running goal?
Survive Around the Bay
What is your ultimate running goal?
To complete a full marathon
Do you have a way we can keep track of your progress (Twitter, Facebook, Blog, etc)
