Do you live to run? Do you plan your day around your running? Do you try to get everyone you know to start running?
If you answered yes to any of these, you may have the runs. If you answered yes to ALL of them, you definitely do!

20 things I learned running my first Ultra

50k is far

Mud sucks (literally and figuratively)

Just because someone has run over 30 ultra’s doesn’t mean they know where they are going.

You will stink when you are done, but so will everyone else

Cooked potatoes and salt are an awesome snack while running

Race volunteers are angels on earth

A “trail” run can mean a dirt road, puddles, swamps, mud as thick as cake batter, and maybe if you are lucky an actual trail.

It is possible to chafe your ankles, waist, and latissimus dorsi.

Anyone running 100 miles is either crazy, super human, or a mixture of both.

It will hurt to run.

Anyone crewing or pacing you deserves their own medal.

You will feel the call of nature about half a mile after you have passed a porta potty.

Walking is not only acceptable but it is sometimes necessary.

Every runner you encounter is accomplishing something great.

Your shoes will become untied about a half a mile apart.

It will hurt to walk.

It is possible for mud to get into your sock

Mud squishing between your toes while you run is both intriguing and disturbing

Quitting will cross your mind several times.

All the pain will be worth it at the finish line
