I am just days away from running my second marathon in almost 10 years. As I sit back and reflect on the road that got me here I wanted to thank all those that got me here.
Thank you, Christopher McDougall. Your book “Born to Run” awoke in me the passion of the long run.
Thank you, Twitter Running Community. Reading your tweets, replies, and blogs have helped me maintain determination and motivation whenever I felt tired or weak.
Thank you Hal Higdon, for creating a great training program, which was tough running but easy to follow.
Thank you Jack Galloway, for imparting the wisdom of the Run,Walk,Run method that will get me through this race as well as the ultra’s in my future.
Thank you Ole Pedersen, for creating the RecordBeater app that has helped me reach higher levels of performance.
Thank you Julie, for becoming the best running partner a guy to ask for. Your “gift of enthusiastic conversation” got me through many of our long runs.
Thank you, Sherry, for convincing me to join you and your sister for the Flying Pig marathon. If it wasn’t for your prodding, I’d be running alone on May 1st, struggling through a trail marathon.
Most of all, thank you to my wife, Lisa. You have put up with constant schedule changes, the 4 am alarm clock, and a stinky, sweaty husband without a word of complaint.
